Maine Coons are relaxed and easy-going in
just about everything they do.
The males tend to be the clowns while the females retain more
dignity, but both remain playful throughout their lives. They
generally get along well with kids and dogs, as well as other
cats.
They are neither lazy in their personality nor too intense
rather in between. The Maine Coon is very social, intelligent
and curious, good-natured towards anyone, but can favour one.
The cats communicate with a characteristic brrrp-sound rather
than a mew.
They seems to be more interested in water than most cats except
maybe at bathing time, they scrabble and splashes a lot at the
water bowl. They use to be called the dog lovers cat due to a
more dog like personality, some like to play fetch with their
owners.
Their intelligence makes it hard to keep closed doors since they
frown upon this and opens the doors themselves.
